MN Fair Guide
Privacy Policy
Last updated July 12, 2026.
The short version: MN Fair Guide has no accounts, runs no third-party ad networks, and does not track you. We built it to help you find your way around the Minnesota State Fair — not to collect your data.
What we don’t do
- No account or sign-in. We never ask for your name, email, phone number, or address.
- No third-party ad networks, and no advertising or analytics SDKs of any kind. (Fair vendors can pay for a clearly-labeled “Featured” listing — that is the only promotion, it is first-party, and it never tracks you.)
- No tracking. We do not link your activity to third-party data for advertising, and we do not share data with data brokers. The app does not use App Tracking Transparency because it does not track.
- We never sell your data.
Location
If you allow it, the app uses your device location to show your position on the fairgrounds map and to sort nearby food and places by distance. This happens on your device. Your location is not sent to our servers, is not linked to your identity, and is not used for tracking. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings — the app still works.
Voice search
If you use the “ask” feature by voice, your speech is converted to text using Apple’s speech recognition on iOS (subject to Apple’s privacy policy). We do not record or store your voice.
Fair data
The app ships with the fair’s directory built in, so it works offline. When online, it may fetch updated vendor listings from our server. Like any web request, our server may keep standard, short-lived logs (such as a truncated IP address) for security and reliability. These logs are not used to identify or track you and are never shared with advertisers or data brokers. Maps, news headlines, and weather come from third parties (OpenStreetMap, Esri, local news outlets, and the National Weather Service); opening those links is subject to their own privacy policies.
Cookies (on this website)
This website uses only a small number of essential, first-party cookies — nothing more. We don’t run any advertising or analytics cookies, and no third party sets cookies through us. Specifically:
- Session cookie — keeps you signed in to the vendor portal and protects forms against cross-site request forgery. It’s required for those pages to work at all.
- Theme preference — remembers whether you chose light or dark mode. This is stored on your device (via a cookie or local storage) so the site doesn’t flash the wrong theme on load.
- Cookie-notice acknowledgement — once you dismiss our cookie banner, we remember that in your browser’s local storage so we don’t show it again.
Because these are strictly necessary or preference cookies — and we do no tracking — there’s nothing to opt out of and no profile being built. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time; the marketing pages will still work, though the vendor portal needs its session cookie to keep you logged in.
Children
MN Fair Guide is a general-audience app and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
